One of the first commissions that I was given was to reproduce this Item.
It was an 'Acorn' that sat on top of a residence.
The new acorn was crafted from two pieces of kiln dried, pine lumber which produced the most beautiful of grain finishes, which is much more pronounced at the base of the piece.
This is a Schmill!
What is a Schmill? A Schmill is a combination of a salt shaker at the top and a pepper grinder at the base, activated by twisting the salt shaker, activating the grind mechanism. This example has been produced from a piece of beautiful Sapele wood, both sections were created from the same piece of wood.
I will turn most things within the limits of my lathe, however, as examples here are a couple of candlesticks crafted from Oak and Sapele.
